Former President Donald Trump has officially appealed the judgment from his New York civil fraud case.
The judgment will cost him $454 million as it currently stands.
Trump’s legal team is asking New York’s mid-level appeals court to overturn Judge Arthur Engoron’s decision in the civil fraud case launched by New York Attorney General Letitia James.
In doing this, the court would cancel or significantly reduce Trump’s fines.
The Trump lawyers asked the court to determine whether Engoron “committed errors of law and/or fact” and whether he “acted in excess” of his jurisdiction.
Trump denies all accusations and claims both James and Engoron are politically motivated.
